Innovate UK have released a film about Wowment and our journey to creating one of the most exciting safeguarding technologies on the market. We were proud then, and we remain proud now, to have been chosen as part of their Inclusive Innovation Award programme — an initiative that champions ideas with the power to make society fairer, safer, and more connected.

The film captures the story of how our founders' work at Goal 17 Ltd led us to develop Wowment: a patent-pending technology that allows people to connect safely through WhatsApp without exchanging personal contact details.

This breakthrough is game-changing for safeguarding. For years, the biggest barrier to one-to-one mentoring and volunteering programmes has been safe communication. By removing the need to share phone numbers, Wowment opens the door for thousands more people to build supportive relationships.

But we didn’t stop there. AI-powered features now monitor risks, protect confidentiality, and surface valuable insights into how relationships grow — all without compromising privacy. The result is not just safer communication, but also smarter, more impactful support for those who need it most.

That’s why Innovate UK recognised Wowment with their Inclusive Innovation Award. It’s a recognition of both the challenge we’re solving and the wider potential: to strengthen social cohesion at a time when society can feel increasingly divided.

Technology often drives us apart. With Wowment, we are proving that technology can also bring us closer together — enabling trust, encouragement, and human connection to flow more easily than ever before.

This film was just one milestone, but it represents so much more: the validation that safeguarding and connection can coexist, and that innovation has a human heart.
